U.S. citizenship is the final step in the U.S. immigration journey for many  HIAS clients.  Refugees and asylees generally become eligible for U.S. citizenship once they have accrued five years as Lawful Permanent Residents.  The process to apply for U.S. citizenship can be challenging to navigate alone.  A person’s immigration history, travel history, or criminal history may lead to complications. Furthermore, applicants must pass a civics exam and be able to read, write, and understand basic English. Join HIAS’ Pro Bono and Partnerships Team for a training Wednesday, May 15th from 3:00-4:30PM ET to learn the ins and outs of applying for naturalization, including tips to help prepare your client for the naturalization interview and potential red flags. Thanks to the generous sponsorship by Chapman and Cutler LLP, this training will be offered free of charge. CLE credit will be available for certain jurisdictions for live participants. Please register in advance. You must be registered to receive the webinar information.
