Venezuela is one of the most underfunded humanitarian responses in the world. Refugees and members of host communities continue to face critical protection risks and vulnerabilities.
In this context, HIAS supports refugees in rebuilding their lives with dignity. Our initiatives consist of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), prevention and response to gender-based violence (GBV), legal protection, economic inclusion, and water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programs.
These efforts, grounded in an ecological, multisectoral, and protection-focused approach, aim to empower program participants.
By addressing their needs, enhancing capacities, finding sustainable solutions, and facilitating dignified living conditions, HIAS strives to contribute significantly to ensuring self-reliance.
HIAS Venezuela focuses on single women, female-headed households, survivors of gender-based violence, children at risk, the elderly, people with disabilities, indigenous people, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. We offer services and tools aimed at strengthening local and individual capacities to foster protection, dignity, and empowerment.

Our Work
Our programs to prevent and respond to GBV provide individual and group assistance and case management services to survivors of GBV, helping them find safety and well-being. HIAS also contributes to the creation of healthy living conditions and environments through WASH activities. The MHPSS program provides individual and group psychosocial support and contributes to strengthening communities to promote psychosocial well-being, resilience, and healthy coping mechanisms. Through our Economic Inclusion and Livelihoods program, HIAS Venezuela promotes access to essential goods and services, while enabling people to undertake vocational and technical training. We also encourage people to explore livelihoods pathways that foster long-term self-sufficiency.
We provide legal services and support, including free legal representation for asylum seekers so that everyone around the world, including displaced people, can have equal access to their legal rights.
