Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami and HIAS 2023 Border Delegation Registration

Join The Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami and HIAS on our border delegation to Tijuana and San Diego to bear witness to the humanitarian crises at our border, deepen our knowledge of and sharpen our analysis of the issues, and strategize a Jewish moral and Miami-based communal response to current policy concerns. The itinerary  is likely to include visiting a detention center, meeting with local elected officials, and crossing the border to visit shelters in Mexico. In addition, the group will participate in Jewish learning with HIAS staff and receive briefings from HIAS’ legal experts, partners and advocates.  The home base for this experience is San Diego with a half-day excursion to Tijuana.

Please note:  This trip is geared toward greater Miami Jewish communal leaders only — primarily clergy and essential community partners in refugee work.

  • You must have and bring a valid passport on this trip for when we go across the border. (You will need your passport number to register.)
  • Travel arrangements, accommodations and a registration fee are at the expense of participants (though financial aid is possible); HIAS will cover meals and group transportation.
  • The listed program dates of March 26th through March 29th include anticipated travel time.  The program will begin early morning Monday, March 27th and end midday on March 29th.  Please book your flights to be present for the full duration of the program.
