The letter has the backing of HIAS, the U.S.-based refugee resettlement agency, which worked with Reps. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Frank Wolf (R-Va.) to obtain the 98 signatures.
