Early Sunday morning, Charlie Blank and Jenn Corker set off to meet a family of Afghan refugees. A halal turkey sat in a cooler on the back seat. Blank and Corker are members of East End Temple, a Reform Jewish congregation in Manhattan that has been working with HIAS to find ways to support and advocate for refugees.

Bishop Dean M. Davies stopped by HIAS’ Washington, D.C. offices on Monday, October 31 to deliver a $200,000 pledge, as well as some words of support. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made the generous donation to HIAS’ ongoing work in support of refugees, one of many such donations it has made in response to the global refugee crisis.
