Beth Oppenheim

Chief Advancement Officer

As Chief Advancement Officer, Beth Oppenheim oversees HIAS’ Communications and Development teams, which play an important role in expanding HIAS’ impact and ability to support HIAS’ mission of supporting forcibly displaced persons.

Beth’s previous roles include Chief Partnerships Officer for Splash International (2022-23), Vice-President for Business Development of Church World Service (2012-21), and Co-Founder and Interim Director of Voice for Refuge (2020-21).

Beth is an expert not only in NGO business development, but also on displacement and economic development. She holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Cape Town, a Master of Science in Global Affairs from NYU, a Master of Science in Urban Affairs and Planning from Hunter College, and a BA from New York University, where she double majored in Metropolitan Studies and Hebrew and Judaic Studies. She has written and published extensively about development and the NGO sector. She is fluent in Portuguese, and conversational in Hebrew and Spanish. She is based out of Colorado.
