HIAS Expresses Deep Shock and Sadness for Tragic Loss of Nabra Hassanen

SILVER SPRING, MD—In response to the death of 17-year-old Nabra Hassanen, who disappeared after leaving the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) Mosque in Sterling, Virginia, HIAS President and CEO Mark Hetfield issued the following statement:
“On behalf of the entire HIAS family, I would like to express our deep shock and sadness at the tragic loss of Nabra Hassanen this past weekend. We can only imagine the anguish the ADAMS community is going through at this terrible time. We wish to send our condolences to Hassanen’s family and our support to the entire community. ADAMS is a valued partner for HIAS and the local Jewish community as we strive together to make Greater Washington, D.C. a welcoming and safe place for all. We will continue to support and stand with ADAMS and the Hassanen family during this difficult time.”
