Global Business Leader to Take Helm of HIAS’ Board
Jun 06, 2016
NEW YORK—HIAS, the global Jewish nonprofit protecting refugees, announced today the appointment of Dianne F. Lob as Chair of its Board of Directors. Lob, Partner and Head of Equity Global Business Development for AllianceBernstein, was elected at HIAS’ June board meeting. She will formally take over for outgoing Board Chair Dale Schwartz on July 1. She begins her tenure during a growth period for the organization and amid the largest global refugee crisis since World War II. Lob first joined the HIAS board in 2010.
“Dianne’s extensive global leadership experience is such a tremendous asset for our organization moving forward,” said Mark Hetfield, HIAS CEO and President. “At this pivotal moment in our Jewish communal and national response to the refugee crisis, we are proud of Dianne’s continuing contributions as part of the HIAS family.”
Speaking of her appointment, Lob said, “At a time when more than 65 million people worldwide have been forced to flee their homes, HIAS’ work protecting, resettling and advocating for refugees is as vital and necessary as it has ever been. As a first-generation American and the child of refugees from Germany, I’m honored to take on the role of Chair. I look forward to working with HIAS’ talented staff to expand our capacity in domestic resettlement as well as continue our international operations and advocacy efforts.”
