Legal Coffee Talk: Country Conditions Global Library
Jun 27, 2024
2:00pm ET | 11:0am PT
Because an asylum seeker bears the burden of establishing their eligibility for the relief they seek, evidence of the conditions in their home country is an essential part of their asylum application. Many applicants do not have first-hand evidence of the harm they suffered (or fear) to submit with their applications, so independent research about the situation in their home country can be a pivotal piece of evidence to corroborate their fear of returning there. Join HIAS’ Pro Bono and Partnerships team on Thursday, June 27 from 2:00-3:00pm ET for a deep-dive on our Country Conditions Global Research Library. We will discuss the work involved in taking on a country conditions research assignment, review the wide variety of research we currently have in our library, and talk about available projects and how to get involved. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the law firm Manatt, this coffee talk will be offered free of charge. Please register in advance
