From Brooklyn to the Bronx, a Manhattan Synagogue Spreads Welcome on Thanksgiving Early Sunday morning, Charlie Blank and Jenn Corker set off to meet a family of Afghan refugees. A halal turkey sat in a cooler on the back seat. Blank and Corker are members of East End Temple, a Reform Jewish congregation in Manhattan that has been working with HIAS to find ways to support and advocate for refugees.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Donation Supports HIAS’ Refugee Work Bishop Dean M. Davies stopped by HIAS’ Washington, D.C. offices on Monday, October 31 to deliver a $200,000 pledge, as well as some words of support. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made the generous donation to HIAS’ ongoing work in support of refugees, one of many such donations it has made in response to the global refugee crisis.
