Winnie Gacheru is the director of psychosocial programs at HIAS Kenya, where she works to help refugees deal with the psychological and emotional effects of the traumatic experiences they have faced and helps to restore dignity in their lives. You can learn more about Winnie here.
This month, Winnie has been touring the U.S. to raise awareness of HIAS’ efforts in East Africa, sharing stories of challenge and hope with synagogues and communities in Washington, San Fransisco, Boston and New York.
