HIAS Welcomes House Passage of NO BAN Act

WASHINGTON — HIAS applauds the U.S. House of Representatives' passage of the NO BAN Act, which was approved by a 218 to 208 vote on Wednesday.

The NO BAN Act was introduced in response to the previous administration’s various attempts to ban Muslims, refugees, and asylum seekers from entering the United States. The bill, an earlier version of which passed the House in 2020, would limit future presidents from implementing similar bans by requiring greater scrutiny and congressional oversight.

HIAS urges the Senate to pass the bill without delay and President Biden to sign it into law.
