Rabbi Jennie Rosenn in Haaretz: Why American Jews Must Oppose Trump's Ban

HIAS VP of Community Engagement Rabbi Jennie Rosenn published an op-ed in Haaretz on Friday, February 3, calling on the Jewish community to stand up to President Trump’s refugee ban.

Fresh off a trip to Lesbos, Greece, Rosenn recounts harrowing stories of the refugees she met there, who simply want a safe life for themselves and their children.
She writes, “what is too often lost in the debate about refugees is the sheer human life that is at stake. In Judaism, we believe that every human being is created b’tzelem Elohim, in the image of God.”
In her piece, Rosenn also argues that, “as Jews, we also have a special role to play, with outsized impact. We have a responsibility called by our tradition, but we also have a history that gives added power to our advocacy.
