NY Bar Foundation Supports HIAS with Grant

The New York Bar Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the New York State Bar Association, has presented a grant of $11,500 to HIAS to support legal representation of asylum seekers and refugees.

“At a time when refugees and asylum seekers are in increasing need of robust legal protection, this grant will enable HIAS to bolster our work representing individuals seeking safety in the United States,” said Mark Hetfield, HIAS President and CEO of HIAS.

The New York Bar Foundation has allocated over $640,000 in grants in 2017 to 98 programs across New York State to assist in increasing public understanding of the law, improving the justice system, facilitating the delivery of legal services and enhancing professional competence and ethics.
