In the aftermath of the attacks on October 7, the humanitarian conditions in Gaza quickly became extreme, and the humanitarian crisis there continues to worsen by the day. According to a recent UN-backed report, 96% of Gaza’s population — 2.15 million people — are experiencing crisis levels of hunger.

HIAS does not work in Gaza, but it is clear just how urgently families in Gaza need help. HIAS knows trusted partners who have been providing life-saving aid to civilians caught in the crossfire.

Catholic Relief Services has been working in the region since the 1940s, with programs initially prioritizing food assistance, vaccination campaigns, and nutrition and health services. Today, its work in Gaza includes shelter, hygiene, food, and other emergency assistance.

Global Communities has been providing humanitarian support in the Gaza Strip since 1994. Today, its emergency response includes providing essential necessities, like food, water, and hygiene services, as well as mental health support.

In Israel, HIAS quickly mobilized in the aftermath of the October 7 attacks to provide emergency services to displaced people and asylum seekers, and continues to serve civilians who are the victims of war and terror.
