Η HIAS Greece εκπροσώπησε δύο Σουδανούς αιτούντες άσυλο που κατηγορούνταν για παράνομη μεταφορά αλλοδαπών στην Ελλάδα και παράνομη είσοδο στη χώρα. Το δικαστήριο αθώωσε ομόφωνα τους κατηγορούμενους από την κατηγορία της λαθρεμπορίας, αποδεχόμενο ότι ο μοναδικός τους σκοπός ήταν να φτάσουν με ασφάλεια στην Ευρώπη, όπου θα μπορούσαν να υποβάλουν αίτηση ασύλου.

The court unanimously acquitted the defendants of the charge of smuggling, accepting that their sole purpose was to reach Europe safely, where they could apply for asylum.
