With Congress continuing to fail to pass comprehensive immigration reform, the Biden administration has largely been turning to alternative solutions to help get vulnerable people protection within the United States. As a result, they have embraced “humanitarian parole” and relied heavily on Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

While these are valuable legal pathways that have created lifesaving opportunities for some, they exclude many others. And even for those who have benefitted from these policies the help is only temporary, as after individuals arrive in the U.S. they must still apply for — and be granted — a permanent immigration status to meaningfully rebuild their lives here.

As we see this play out in real time, please join us to discuss why the Biden administration is relying on these limited and temporary pathways, the benefits and pitfalls of these forms of legal relief, who has been left out, and what you can do to ensure more equitable access to our nation’s immigration system moving forward.
