Values in Action: Accompanying and Supporting Our Immigrant Neighbors

4pm ET | 1pm PT

As we continue to witness the devastating impacts of the systemic anti-immigrant attacks in our communities, it can feel difficult to find effective ways to take action.

While the current challenges are considerable, so too is our collective power when we show up in solidarity to support the most vulnerable among us. Accompanying immigrants to hearings, ICE check-ins, and other legal appointments is a powerful way to recenter our focus on humanity; providing companionship and bearing witness to impacted individuals as they navigate systems and processes that are now even more complicated and frightening.

HIAS is working with partners to map and elevate accompaniment programs in which the broader Jewish American community is already engaged and to share knowledge and resources. We have seen first-hand the real human impact it can have when responding to the extra-judicial detention and deportation of our immigrant neighbors.

On this call, you will hear from HIAS leaders and local voices from across the country to learn more about what accompaniment is, why it is more important than ever, and opportunities to plug in to already existing work or create your own program.

As we celebrate Simchat Torah with joy and readiness to recommit ourselves to the Torah, let us recommit to our Jewish values with the same enthusiasm and vigor.

By attending this program, you will get access to resources collated by HIAS to support you in learning more about becoming an accompaniment volunteer and locating programs near you.
