WATCH: Caring for the Whole Person

Taking care of an individual’s mental health is essential to ensure every refugee can build a new future — it can be the difference between surviving and thriving. As we note World Mental Health Day, October 10, HIAS is highlighting the importance of community-based mental health programs that promote the well-being of individuals, families, and communities affected by crisis and conflict.

At HIAS, we believe in caring for the whole person, and to do that we offer refugees access to free mental health and psychosocial support services. Over many years, we’ve created an approach that puts community and connection right at the center, focusing on refugees’ unique needs. We also train refugees to become mental health advocates in their own communities, helping to identify and respond to the critical signs of need in others.

In this video, learn about HIAS’ dedication to refugees and their well-being.
