Refugees in Kenya need your help!
Kenya hosts nearly 250,000 refugees from other parts of Africa most of whom, are women and children. As per the Kenyan government, refugees are required to live in two remote camps—Kakuma and Dadaab—where they face grave security concerns and the possibility of new trauma such as abuse, violence and torture. The effects of this trauma continue to impede the refugees’ ability to secure adequate protection in Kenya. Under these circumstances, the only way to protect many at-risk refugees is through resettlement to a third country.
Since its inception, HIAS Refugee Trust of Kenya (HRTK) has successfully assisted some of the most vulnerable refugees in Kenya. Through its network of more than 20 partner organizations, HRTK’s Protection Team is alerted to those refugees most at risk. HRTK then assists refugees for whom resettlement is the appropriate form of protection and provides psychological counseling to cope with trauma and to facilitate the refugees’ ability to act on durable solutions for resettlement.
